Snowmass Village / Aspen Trip
August 24 - 28, 2005
To give us an idea of the weather, crowds, etc. to expect next year at the Specialty, the GSMDCR spent some time in the Snowmass/Aspen area last week. Below are pictures from the trip to give you an idea of what is in store for next year.

Observations |
The weather was perfect- warm in the sun and cool in the shade. A quick thunderstorm rolled through in the afternoon a couple of days. The evenings and early mornings required a sweater or jacket.
Both towns of Snowmass Village and Aspen were relatively empty. Small crowds came in the evenings for the concerts and movies on the lawn of the hotel property. All restaurants and shops were open with normal hours.
We were stopped approximately a million times and asked why we shaved our Bermese Mountain Dogs so be prepared.
The tent on the hill was a fantastic hangout. There was a concert followed by a movie at 6pm Wed, Thurs and Friday. You were close enough to hear the music but far enough away for it not to be loud or to be bothered by the crowd. The tent is technically part of the restaurant, so they had food and beer specials all 3 nights. There were heaters in the tent so you weren't cold. Well-behaved dogs are allowed in the tent.
