Bob and Nancy Vandiver began their "dog life' in the late 1960s with the purchase of a Wire Fox Terrier. They showed for a couple of years, but were attracted to the Doberman Pinscher breed.
Since the early seventies, Bob and Nancy have bred occasional Doberman litters (about one every two to three years) under the Mistel prefix. Their breedings have been quite successful considering they have produced few litters. To date they have had about twenty American champions and many others that have won AKC championship points. They have bred six consecutive generations of breeder-owner handled champions.
Bob applied to judge Dobermans in 1995 and is now approved by the American Kennel Club to judge all working breeds and two thirds of the sporting breeds.
Bob has judged many prestigious specialty and all-breed shows in the United States. He has judged specialties of several working breeds.
Bob and Nancy have both been very active in dog organizations. Bob was a member of the Doberman Pinscher Club of America Board of Directors for six years. He and Nancy were members of the Houston Kennel Club. He is past President and now show chairman of the Greenville South Carolina Kennel Club. They are both members of the Clemson, SC Kennel Club. Nancy has worked at many levels of committee activity in the various clubs.
Bob is an graduate engineer of Texas A&M University, and retired as a Project Manager at one of the largest Engineering and Construction companies in the US. He managed all aspects of large petrochemical projects, typically in the $100 million range.
